Solubility, or an ability for a substance to dissolve itself to another substance is important in many chemical reactions. For example, when salt (NaOH) dissolves itself to H20, it actually attach its chemical structure to water. This is crucial to Intravenous (IV), a patient cannot only absorb water or salt into his/her bloodstream. Too much water will burst a blood cell, too little will lyst a blood cell. NaOH is an agent that can control that balance.
